Early Dismissal at 1:00 p.m. for Secondary School Today, October 9, 2024

Today, there was a belt on an air conditioning unit that burned, which resulted in smoke in the cafeteria. This then set off the fire alarm for the entire Secondary School. Students and staff were quickly evacuated, and the fire department and other first responders were there to assess the situation. While the building has been cleared for students and staff to return, for the safety of all students and staff, we are going to be having an early dismissal for all Secondary School students (grades 7-12) today, October 9, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. This will not be a day that needs to be made up for the Secondary Students.

The timing of this situation coincided with student lunches, so some students were able to eat their lunches while others did not have that opportunity. We are working with our food vendor to have to-go lunches available to students who would like them as they get dismissed from school.

All after-school activities can still occur as scheduled outside of the building. Both elementary schools will dismiss at their normal times.
